Henry A. Giroux The fifth contribution to our reflections series is provided by the renowned public intellectual Henry A. Giroux. Discarded by the corporate state, dispossessed of social provisions and deprived of the economic, political and social conditions that enable viable and critical modes of agency, for Giroux many of the worlds citizens now find themselves inhabiting zones of abandonment marked by deep inequalities in power, wealth and income. Such zones of human disposal, he argues, have become sites marked by endless spectacles of violence, and supportive of the neoliberal logics of containment, commodification, surveillance, militarization, cruelty and punishment. |

The Psychopath Project:
|
---|
11/11/2014 - This is a little project I just started working on about successful psychopaths in our society. It began as my part of a group presentation for my psychology class. (yet to be presented) I have begun to find quite a bit of information on the subject, in the way of books and articles, and I will be listing my findings here to support my research. -Open Here- |
Privacy advocates kicked off a new anti-surveillance campaign in style today by floating an airship reading "Illegal Spying Below" - complete with helpful arrow - over the NSA's massive data center in Utah. Dubbed by one observer "the maiden patrol of the first anti-surveillance activist air force," the dirigible flight marked the launch of StandAgainstSpying.org, a project by Electronic Frontier Foundation, Greenpeace, the Tenth Amendment Center and 20 other diverse groups that seeks to outlaw mass surveilance, reform the FISA court that signs off on NSA activity, prohibit the NSA from undermining encryption technologies, and grade members of Congress in a national scorecard on how much they do or don't help those efforts. |

My favorite so far is the Stimulator video news program. Their videos tend to be about 20 minutes long, give or take. They do a good job of discussing the corruption in the world today and the activism that fights it. Very serious subjects, but it will often have you laughing at the same time. The main page has a navigation bar at the top that will take you to everything the site has to offer. I have yet to check everything out. It is definitely about resistance and activism against this totally corrupted system that rules society today. Together with capitalism, fascism and totalitarianism are growing around the world and the United States is no exception! Their About page. | |||

Addicting Info started as a resource to discredit all the lies and propaganda that the right-wing spreads. When I undertook the project I thought I would probably have about 100 different articles about a number of different myths, and people could sort through them at will. Eventually that expanded to news and other info, and I quickly realized the DAUNTING task of actually trying to discredit EVERY right-wing myth that is in existence, especially with the constant creation of new ones. | |||
